ATLChris: Waze, a mobile GPS app that finally gets it right!

I really liked your article. Waze is a great application and word NEEDS to be spread. I use Waze just like you do, keeping it open all the time so it can learn and enjoying munching down new roads.

Correction in your article though... Waze DOES have 3D view... Go to settings and you can switch between 2D and 3D as well as night and daytime etc.

Hey, thanks for the tip, I never noticed that 2D/3D view. I will have to play around with that.

Like your post. I'm going to bite and check Waze out.

Waze is great, but it also needs people who are willing to edit the map and make it better. If you'd like to become an area manager simply email alpha@waze.com and ask for it, especially if you notice that updates haven't happened in a while even if there's already a manager listed.

THere's lots of places in metro-ATL that are in need of area managers to help edit the map and make it better for all of us.

(I'm not affiliated with Waze, just a happy user.)

I wish I had the time to be an area manager, but my schedule is very full. Thanks for the comments. I encourage others to become a manager!

I like the concept, but, users should be cautioned: you cannot depend on this app, it depends on you- For now. With enough users, it could be better than any of the current Navigation methods. As is, I can't trust it to take me somewhere I don't already know how to go. Tracking is slow, often displaying turns that I've already made, and saying "Turn Left (or Right)" after I've passed the intersection. Again, I love the idea, and fully support it, but if you're looking for free, dependable navigation, well, Waze has a ways to go, so help out!
